Retro fashion has always been one of my favorites. I love wearing demure elegant pieces that give you that classic glam look.
This is what I wore to the Fashion Industry Mixer event that StylingOn hosted last Thursday at the upscale Carlton Hotel in NYC. ♥
This posh event gathered stylists, designers, fashion bloggers, editors and journalists looking to network with some of the finest people in New York’s fashion industry.
I wanted to wear something fresh but glam and stylish. I thought this summery floral print dress with linear designs would give me the perfect look.
This dress also camouflaged some of my imperfections flattering my figure big time, being that scuba midi dresses tend to enhance your figure.
I chose to add these super high beige pumps and a black clutch. As you can see all the accessories are in solid neutral colors, being that I was already wearing a super busy patterned dress.
I also wore minimum jewelry. Regarding the Makeup, I chose neutral eyeshadows paired with a red wine lipstick.
I had a great time at this event. I was able to meet great talented people, all with common likes and interests.

Retro Chic is one of my favorite styles. It brings out sort of a classy and exotic allure in any gal.
Retro Chic is how I would describe Zoraya’s look…she is very classy and loves, loves loose fit clothes. Even though her style is classy and elegant, she also likes to play with colors and be daring sometimes.
That is why for this look, I chose this shift dress she had in her closet. It is powerful, eye-catching and sexy! It features a super magnetic pattern of vibrant colors that will make you stand out even from the biggest crowd.
She also had in her closet these gorgeous shoes in beige, perfect to create balance within the whole look.
I decided to add an orange clutch and also gold accessories. I thought these long vintage earrings were perfect to complement the look with no need to add a necklace at all.
Regarding the Makeup, I chose to create the so trendy Cut Crease technique, because it is also super retro. I worked with beige and royal blue hues for the eyes, complementing the look with creamy/peachy lips.
I think Zoraya looks extremely beautiful! This look actually goes with her style and her dynamic personality. What do you think?
Zoraya’s Retro Chic Look
Zoraya told me this dress was a gift given to her from one of her closest BFF’s. I believe it is from Neiman Marcus. She is also wearing these sexy Jennifer Lopez Hooded Platform High Heels from Kohl’s.
Regarding the Makeup, I first did the Pre Makeup with Makeup For Ever Primer, Two Faced Eye Primer and Graftobian Wheel Corrector. I worked with the Hi-Def Glamour Creme Foundation (Femme Fatale) from Graftobian & Studio Fix Compact Powder from MAC Cosmetics. I chose to work with the Color My Life Eye & Lip Makeup Tablet from Sephora (Matte Beige & Royal Blue), and also Prisma Chrome Sephora Eyeshadow (Sapphire Shine). I used Black Gel Eyeliner from Maybelline, defining her eyebrows with the amazing Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Duo, Brow Gel & Highlighter. I used the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Compact to contour her face, and for her lips, I used Avon Lip Liner (Chocolate) and mixed AVON Lipstick (Pink Twilight) with MAC Cosmetics Lipstick (Ravishing).

Last weekend I did my friend Magy’s Vintage Hair and Makeup. She was going to a vintage wedding and required my services. She made a great choice by putting together this so girly and unique outfit. Magy chose a light yellow vintage dress and paired it with red shoes and a clutch. Her outfit was so delicate and sober that made her look super elegant and impeccable. She added pearled studs along with a pearled bracelet. The wedding was in the morning, so she came to my Temple real early and right away I started working on her makeup. I applied pre-makeup products from Sephora and then I proceed to apply Studio Tech Powder Foundation from MAC Cosmectics. I defined her eyebrows using a Trucco Sebastian eyebrow powder. I applied some neutral eyeshadows from my NAKED Palette of Urban Decay, since she told me she didn’t want the makeup to be too dramatic (of course, a challenge for me ;)). I did a simple cat eye technique, but I applied tons of mascara (shhhh…), since I just don’t know how to be simple, hehehe… I also added a Bobbi Brown Bronzer as a blush and for the lips, I applied a combination of red lipsticks to finally achieve the perfect red. Last, I set the makeup by applying compact powder allover her face and also a setting spray.
Regarding the hair, I created a side twist along with a donut bun and last, I put an off white fascinator on the left side right next to the twist.
She later texted me to let me know of all the compliments she got even from the Bride! I am so happy to once again be able to meet someone’s expectations. Thank you Magy for putting all your trust in me! Very much appreciated♥
Here there are some pics I took that morning:

This 4th of July Look I created this week is different from the other red white and blue outfits I have previously presented you, and the reason is because this one resembles a super retro look because of the elements I have incorporated. A while back I got this vintage blouse and I had it in my closet waiting for the perfect moment to wear it. This blouse features this awesome turquoise blue combined with big white polka dots; it also has shoulder pads and hidden buttons. I thought the perfect way to pair this blouse was wearing white pants and adding a red clutch and voilà! You got your Retro 4th of July Look!!! I chose to wear my hair loose with some soft curls halfway down, even though in the beginning I had a donut bun in mind. My makeup is also super retro: dramatic black cat eyes paired with red lips. The sunglasses are incredible retro as well.
Vintage Turquoise and White Polka Dot Blouse from Lakshmi’s Closet ($9.99); Columnist Barely Boot White Slim Pants from EXPRESS ($79.90); Crocodile Embossed Turn-Lock Clutch Wallet from EXPRESS; White Heels with Wooden Platform from bebe; Faux Patent Colorblock Belt from New York & Company (
$22.95 Now$13.77); Gold Bracelet and Clear Gold Long Earrings from Forever 21; Plain Gold Ring from Aldo; White Retro Sunglasses from JLO.
NAKED Palette from Urban Decay (Virgin); Line Stiletto Black Liquid Eyeliner from Maybelline New York; XXL Pro Mascara Step1 & Big Fatty Mascara from Urban Decay; MAC Cosmetics Powder Blush (Mocha Matte); MAC Cosmetics Lipsticks (Amplified Heartless); Studio Tech Foundation & Studio Fix Compact Powder from MAC Cosmetics. *Miss Señorita* Pin Up Tutorial is a resemblance of a Retro inspired look with a Spanish influence. I am a lover of retro vintage styles and Spanish starlets from the 50’s as well, I enjoy watching their movies just so I could absorb all the glamour and allure that characterized those beautiful women from that time. I found this lovely black and polka dot vintage dress a few weeks ago and it reminded me of the times when Hispanic women as well used to dress like this back in my country when I was growing up. So I said to myself: ‘why don’t I create a look reminiscing those times just as I remember me being mesmerized by those dresses, accessories, hairstyle and makeup?’ I started choosing carefully the accessories and I picked pearls because I feel they go perfect with the ladylike style of this dress and with polka dots. I even added a leather watch because I remember my mother wearing one of those. I added the classic red slingback shoes and a short chained bag as well. The hair and the makeup are pin up all the way. If you are interested on purchasing this dress, feel free to go to my online Store “Laskhmi’s Closet” and get it! It is a very elaborated garment with lots of details. For more info watch my Video Tutorial, there I talk more about it.
