Today’s day drained me completely to the point I couldn’t even start writing, but I definitely learned a lesson out of everything that happened today. I learned we need to start appreciating the people we have around us. We sometimes take them for granted and we realize how important and significant they are once they are gone. And I don’t necessarily mean them being gone from the world, I also mean them being out of sight for a lot of reasons. That is why it is so important to acknowledge the people around you everyday and all the time. And I am referring to family members, friends, coworkers and everyone else.
People come into our lives for a reason. Nothing is just a coincidence, the same way nobody in our lives is a coincidence. Therefore the importance of recognizing these people allowing them to do their job and complete the assignment they came to do around us.
From now on I want to pay more attention not only to my loved ones, but also to my friends, coworkers and even acquaintances. Sometimes a simple “Good Morning” or an “I love you” could mean the world to someone.
Let’s work on developing solidarity and unity with one another, because at the end we are all connected as One and we’ll certainly benefit from it as well.
Printed pants are my recommendation for this week. It’s the latest trend for this season. You could pair them with solid tops, flats or heels, and go easy on the accessories. They create a very fresh and comfortable look, still making you stand out significantly. I chose a few options for you:
New York & Company offers The Bleecker Street Crop Straight Leg Pant – Floral to look great from dusk to dawn. It comes in 2 colors: Darling Pink and Glamorous Blue. Zip front with front and back pockets. On sale for $32.86
Nordstrom also has a few more options, but I only picked these 3 for you. The first ones are the Current/Elliott ‘The Stiletto’ Floral Skinny Jeans (Haystack Floral Wash), featuring a faded vintage floral design $214. The second ones are the Dolce&Gabbana Print Stretch Cotton Pants, straight-leg pants, five-pocket style covered with a vivacious garden scene in a WHITE MULTI color $545. And third, we have the DVF Loves Current/Elliott ‘Classic Skinny’ Jeans, a pair of stretch-denim jeans in a vibrant print. It comes in a BLUE LEAF MEADOW color $258
H&M presents these floral TROUSERS for $34.95. I personally love these.
And Love Culture has these eye catching TROPICAL FLORAL LEGGINGS for $19.90.
If your nails are like mine, then you wish you had stronger and longer nails. According to some researches you should make sure you consume enough calcium, by eating foods like sardines, bananas, spinach, broccoli, peanuts, sesame seeds and eggs. Besides food intake, you could also put into practice some of these home remedies:
1. Add a crushed Garlic, 10 drops of Lemon Juice, 5 drops of Iodine to a bottle of clear nail polish. Shake well and do not use until the next day. Apply daily for 2 weeks one layer each day. Then remove with a non acetone nail polish remover. You could find Iodine at your local drugstore.
2. Combine in a bottle of clear nail polish: 10 drops of Lemon Juice, 10 drops Lemon Essential Oil and a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar. Using the same procedure above mentioned, apply for two consecutive weeks.
3. Mix 3 Tablespoons of Olive Oil with 1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice, and soak your fingers for 10 minutes.
The other day my friend Angie came up to me to talk about this amazing interview she had watched the day before, where Oprah had as a guest a man named Deepak Chopra. Now, I certainly knew who he was. I have been to Barnes and Nobles numerous times looking for new era books and I had seen his name on some of the books that had caught my attention. My friend sent me the link of part of the interview for me to watch and the more I listened the more I was getting into it, to the point that I have been watching his interviews all over Youtube ever since. And I will definitely start reading his books. On this interview Oprah did to him, I also saw Perez Hilton give his testimony. For a while I have been wondering where has been Perez Hilton, and maybe I am all late about it, but I just found out he actually turned over his whole career into a positive path. So there will be no more cruel criticism toward celebrities on his behalf because he decided to stop all that negative contribution he was doing to the media. And I am so thrilled to see that change, because I have been noticing, just like Mr. Chopra stated, how Humanity is going through a spiritual awakening or consciousness where we are following a path toward spirituality. To me that is just part of our evolution and certainly can not be stopped. And to see someone like Perez Hilton follow that path, it means no one is exempt to it, just like he said, he just started going through a deep spiritual awakening seeing the world totally different. Personally, I have been seeing that change on people that I would’ve never thought, and everyday I see more and more people connecting to this trend of Spirituality.
To finish, I want to share with you these 7 Meaningful Questions we should all ask ourselves, according to Deepak Chopra, to create your Soul Profile and have life move you into discovering who you really are. You need to really meditate over this addressing all the attention to the center of your heart and connecting to your inner soul.
1. Who am I? Like Oprah said, the answer should not involve what you do or the role that you play.
2. What do I want?
3. What’s my purpose in this life?
4. What sort of contribution do I want to make?
5. What are my unique skills and talents?
6. Who are my heroes?
7. What do I expect in a meaningful relationship? What do I give?
Mother’s Day is almost here! Probably you still need to get a couple of presents and don’t know what to get. At least I have until the end of the month to get my mom’s present, and that is because us Dominicans celebrate Mother’s Day on the last Sunday of May. But if you are celebrating it this Sunday you are kind of late. Gladly I have a few solutions for you to help you choose a great last minute Mother’s Day gift.
1. Orchid Plant- Orchid plants express exotic character and delicate beauty. Orchid is the most highly coveted of ornamental plants. This flower symbolizes love, luxury, beauty and strength. They are a long-lasting and particularly elegant type of flower, making them the perfect gift for many occasions. Their graceful appearance draws immediate attention, and their reputation as an exotic and unusual flower evokes a sense of refinement and innocence. You could certainly get them at a florist, Home Depot and Lowe’s.
2. Necklace / Earrings Set. And I would say jewelry in general, but being that is a last minute gift, maybe you don’t know ring sizes; maybe you don’t want them to go to the trouble of having to go back to the store to re-size bracelets and watches. That is why I chose a necklace and / or an earrings set. Also necklaces are known for creating a bond that could be passed from generation to generation, and to me that is just beautiful. Any Department Store like Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, etc. will definitely have the perfect set. I personally recommend pearls. Nothing more exquisite than pearls! But you could also opt for Fashion Jewelry as well, for all of those modern and young moms who love stylish jewelry.
3. Perfume Set. Very popular, because very rare you go wrong with this option. Also most of the time there is someone at the store to help you pick the right one according to age, sex and popularity. I picked a few Mother’s Day sets from Nordstrom like Salvatore Ferragamo ‘Signorina’ Deluxe Eau de Parfum Mother’s Day Set for $98; Jimmy Choo Deluxe Mother’s Day Fragrance Set for $115; and Burberry ‘Body’ Mother’s Day Set for $98.
4. Handbag. What woman doesn’t like purses? seriously! Women wouldn’t mind owning hundreds of them. The good thing here it’s that they don’t need an specific size like shoes do. This MICHAEL Michael Kors Handbag, Jet Set Chain Item Chain Ring Tote in Burnt Orange is my pick for this week. It also comes in Black, Vanilla, Tan and Zinnia $298.
5. Gift Card. If you can’t definitely figure out her taste and her likes, then get her a gift card. You could get her one from her favorite spa or hair salon, from her favorite store or restaurant. Gift cards are very popular these days and they are very much appreciated
If she is too far away, you could even do an Online Gift Card! Check Macy’s for details.
Rosacea is a chronic condition characterized by facial redness and sometimes pimples on the central face across the cheeks, nose or forehead, but can also affect the neck, chest, ears, and scalp. I personally suffer from this condition, so I decided to implement some of these home remedies along with my regular facials and moisturizers I faithfully follow.
1. Mix 1 Tablespoon of Licorice Powder with 1 teaspoon of Honey and 1 teaspoon of Aloe Vera Gel. Apply on your face for 15 minutes. These 3 ingredients are proved to reduce inflammation and redness soothing the skin. Licorice Powder could be found at your local health food store.
2. Grab a few Chamomile flowers and boil them in a cup of water for about 10 minutes. Let it cool down, strain and dab it over your face using a cotton ball.
3. Dilute 2 Tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar with 2 Tablespoons of water. Use a cotton ball and apply on your face letting it dry. Then wash it off.
4. Mix 3 Tablespoons of fine Oatmeal with 1 ½ Tablespoons of Yogurt. Apply paste on your face for about 20 minutes. Wash it off with warm water.
5. Dilute a ¼ cup of Epsom Salt in a cup of warm water. Dab it over your face using a cotton ball.
We often hear that in order to attract what we want towards us, we need to show gratitude. And I definitely agree with that. When you are grateful for something it increases. To me it only meant showing appreciation for what we have and also thanking God or the Universe for what it has been already conferred to us. The other day while I was at my metaphysical class I realized it is not only about that. It also implies not criticizing, judging or condemning others. The lack of gratitude could lead us to judge and condemn others and also to self-destructive behavior such as envy, misery, depression, lack of creativity and motivation. It is said that no matter how crucial is your situation, there is always something to be grateful for.
So I started thinking, it is understood we need to show gratitude everyday and all the time, but how could we show gratitude? Is there any way or path to follow?
1. Rhonda Byrne recommends we should log in a daily basis all of our blessings. I believe there is even a journal with some positive thoughts extracted from The Secret, where you can write all the things you are grateful for. Or you could just create a list and read it everyday, updating it every time you feel you should add to it.
2. Another way is by not criticizing, judging or condemning others as I mentioned above. This could turn into a bad habit and it could lead you to bitterness and misery.
3. Say Thank You. Thank people everyday. It doesn’t matter if they don’t answer. At least you are doing your part.
4. Always look at the positive side of everything. Even if you are going through rough times, try to look for the positive instead of focusing on the negative, and every time that specific situation comes to your mind, remind yourself the positive side.
5. And last, show gratitude to yourself. Besides being thankful for everything we have around us, it is also important to be thankful for what we are, meaning thankful for our wonderful qualities and talents, for our good heart, for our attitude toward an specific situation, for helping others. You should try doing this every night and thank yourself for all the good things YOU achieved during the day. This way you are sending a message to the Universe stating how valuable and prepared you are to receive all the good things that should be on the way.
